Canadian Veterinary Oath Canadian Veterinary Medical Association 2004 William Golbeck DVM Doone WatsonDVM Dr.William Golbeck Dr. Golbeck graduated from the University of Guelph with a honors Bachelor of Science degree in 1978 and completed his DVM in 1983 from The Ontario Veterinary College. After a short stint in a mixed practice in Ontario, Bill migrated west and ended up in Calgary where he has remained for all but a 6 month contract position in a mixed practice in Nova Scotia. Initially working emergency and locums, he eventually found a position managing one of the older established practices in Calgary and after a year purchased it. After 17 years he remains the owner & operator of Westmount Animal Clinic Inc. His professional interests range from laser surgery to diagnostic ultrasound and his strength is his innate ability to handle pets of all kinds and temperaments! A member of the Canadian & Alberta Veterinary Medical Associations and the Calgary Academy of Veterinary Medicine, he also writes a column in the local community newspaper and visits local schools for ‘career days’ seminars. Bill met his wife Tatjana in Guelph just before graduation and they have 3 very busy children, a dog, 2 cats and two birds. As a family they love to ski, skate and go wilderness camping. Dr. Doone Watson Dr. Watson graduated from the University of Tulsa with a BSc in Zoology before attending the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). She graduated in 1982 and worked in Prince George, BC for two years in a mixed animal practice before returning to OVC and completing a MSc in Veterinary Parasitology. Doone then moved to Calgary and studied immunology at the University of Calgary as a MRC fellow for three years. For the next six years she did locum veterinary work in Calgary including 8 month stint at the Calgary Zoo. Doone then moved to Saudi Arabia with her husband Dr. Tim Watson and spent the next five years doing assorted veterinary work in the Middle East, which included caring for the exotic pets of a local Saudi prince, spaying and neutering feral cats, looking after expats's dogs and cats as well as working as a veterinarian at local horse endurance races. Returning to Calgary in 2002, Doone worked at Elbow Valley Pet Hospital for 5 years before moving to Westmount Animal Clinic in 2006. She works part time to allow her and Tim to travel and race internationally - they have run races in Costa Rica, Peru and the US, and have entered Primal Quest 2008 in Montana - a ten day endurance event. When not working or running, Doone spends time with her Belgian Tervuren, Sandy and her cat Tucker. Tatjana (Tana) G. – Hospital Administrator Tana left the University of Guelph with her degree in agricultural economics and came to Calgary to start her career as a financial planner. She eventually left that field to become an active owner and hospital administrator at Westmount Animal Clinic Inc. where she remains today. Besides raising 3 active children and supporting their many activities, she runs the ‘Grandparents Reading Program’ at the local elementary school and Tana’s Pantry which is a part-time home based business which sells her homemade organic preserves. Angel B.- VOA Angel is a graduate of NAIT’s Veterinary Office Assistant program. When not at work she spends her time gardening, sewing, crafting and spending time with her two cats “Ned” and “Grey” . Natasha Z. - VOA Natasha comes to us from Nova Scotia, where she graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program at the Maritime Business College. Natasha and her boyfriend, Pat share their home with their 2 kitties, Phatso and Louise. When not working, Natasha may be found hiking, fishing or exploring her new home, Alberta Dana K. - RAHT Jonathan S. - Veterinary Student
